Farewell TJ's Deli!

After church last night we all went to TJ's Deli in Concord for a quick dinner. A big banner in the window announced that they would be closing on August 25th. They had red "Farewell" t-shirts hanging behind the bar for $14.99.

Carmen ordered her regular, the egg salad sandwich (she says it's second only to her mom's). TJ's has the best Reuben in town but since Wednesday night is all-you-can-eat spaghetti I opted for that instead. It turns out that the first plate was so full that one was all I could eat. Angel followed her mom's lead and ordered the egg salad. Hannah ordered chicken fingers. If there are some boneless fried chicken parts on any menu, that's what Hannah is ordering.

As we were eating, people were talking about how much they are going to miss TJ's. Apparently, the landlord doesn't want to renew the lease and they are bringing in a new restaurant. The Mayor of Concord and his wife came in. I didn't recognize him casually dressed with a baseball cap on his head. That's one of things you learn to love about a place like TJ's, you'll find everyone from a local politician, to bikers, to a youth pastor and his family there.

I'll be back for that Reuben, and maybe a "farewell" t-shirt.
