Beer is still nasty!

I have been telling people for years that I don't drink alcohol because it tastes bad. Well, it seems that all this time I was like the little boy who declared that the emperor had no clothes. It is nasty and the rest of you are deluded.

Scientists have now proven that you beer drinkers "think" you like the taste of beer because you have trained your brain to think that you like it. Your "taste" for beer actually has more to do with alcohol's effect on the brain reward system than the taste of it.

Here comes the science:

Survivor: China

This season there is a contestant on Survivor who is immediately recognizable to me. She's Leslie Nease and she's a morning radio personality on the major Christian radio station in Charlotte (New Life 91.9).

Maybe because I'm on a church staff I should listen to Christian radio more. Personally, I'd rather listen to NPR during my hour long commute to and from work everyday. If I listen to music it's probably going to be from my own collection. So that's why I don't really know anything about Leslie other than, "oh yeah, that lady from WRCM."

In any case I wish her the best on Survivor. From her CBS bio and video interview, it seems like she plans to be very outspoken about her faith from the beginning. I think she has the potential to represent Christians very well. It's somewhat up to the producers and how they choose to edit her as to whether or not stereotypes are emphasised over her actual personality.

So is she my pick for Season 15? That I can't say yet. I have to go back and watch the other interviews and make my choice after the season premiere on Sept 20th. I think I've been getting better at it. Last season I picked Earl and he won it all. I sure wish CBS would bring back the Survivor Fantasy League.
